CARDINAL CATCHFLY

Español

CARDINAL CATCHFLY (Silene laciniata) , also called Indian Pink, has slender stems and leaves.  It grows next to other plants for support under the oak canopy.  The flowers are bright red with five fringed petals at the end of a long tube.  They bloom mainly from April to August.

  Sticky hairs on its stems
  and sepals can catch
  small flying insects.
